The history of the pastel de nata

Born in the 19th century in the kitchens of the Hieronymites Monastery in Lisbon, the pastel de nata quickly became a symbol of Portuguese gastronomy. Its traditional recipe, combining crispy puff pastry with a soft, slightly caramelized custard, is a true national treasure. This iconic dessert, sprinkled with a touch of cinnamon, has delighted taste buds for generations and is now a global favorite.

Our Portuguese pastry chefs make this classic in six more flavours. Discover the chocolate praline pastel de nata, a perfect fusion of rich chocolate and crunchy praline. Indulge in the salted caramel, blending sweetness with a touch of intensity, or the chestnut version, evoking the warm flavors of autumn. Freshness lovers will adore the strawberry and lemon pastéis, while fans of bold and aromatic flavors will appreciate the speculoos creation.
